Hens & Chickens Quilt Fellowship
An auxiliary group of the Golden West College Foundation
The Hens & Chickens Quilt Fellowship of Golden West College, an auxiliary of the Foundation, began in 1989 when a group of quilters did not want to disband after having taken a quilting class at Golden West College. Their name, Hens & Chickens, was taken from the name of a quilt block. Originally a group of 5, they have been 25 members strong and range in age from 13 years to 80.
Each year, they make an opportunity quilt and donate the funds to GWC scholarships as well as contributions to the campus for such projects as theater renovations, ballet bars for the dance department, new library books, a Fine Arts Gallery security system, Science Museum supplies and recently a brick entryway for the GWC California Native Plant Garden.
Meetings are held on campus the second Saturday of each month. Annual dues are $10.
THE 2016 OPPORTUNITY QUILT IS AVAILABLE NOW
